Transportation Barriers to Accessing Health Care for Urban Children

In a clinic population with a majority of families headed by young single mothers, 51% of study participants cited transportation difficulties as the primary reason for missed appointments. Specific reasons included riding public transportation, inclement weather, and having to care for several children during long waits for buses.
